Paul G Terry
Paul is a composer, guitarist, pianist and performer living in Sussex, Britain. His work moves between contemporary classical, ambient and popular music, with a particular interest in music that is direct, expressive and tells a story.
Alongside composing and performing, Paul teaches piano and songwriting, and presents The Green Room, a weekly music programme on Meridian FM
Me:
I love expression, passion and honesty. And I’ve always aimed to write music that seems simple and speaks for itself.
I like music that is direct, and tells us a story.
My personal journey through music started at a relatively late age, I was being trained up to be a scientist (believe it or not) and completed my first year at university in a degree in Physics & Philosophy. But in my spare time I was playing the guitar, the keyboard, writing songs and poetry.
My friends and peers were asking me: “Why are you studying science?!” For me it was what I had qualifications in, it was what my parents were supporting me in, and didn’t know any better. None of my family were artistic, I had never had any music lessons, and never studied it at school. But I felt it was part of me, and so I went against the grain of all my surroundings and started teaching myself music.
To cut a long story short, bit by bit things fell into place, and through hardship and adversity I forged a musical life. Got a degree in music, and even started teaching it. You wouldn’t necessarily hear that in any of the tracks I’ve recorded. I believe I’m tapping into something more pure than my experiences and ego. More of a collective dream of the world.

The Music:
Paul's music has travelled across a wide range of settings — from orchestras, choirs and classical ensembles to rock bands, short films and contemporary performance. His work moves between ambient and classical music, always returning to his interest in simplicity, expression and atmosphere.
He has performed at venues including the Royal Albert Hall and 3Arena, appeared on BBC television and Ireland AM, and has performed internationally as a musician.

Every Wednesday evening on Meridian FM, Paul invites musicians, producers and people from across the world of music into The Green Room for relaxed conversations, stories, musical discoveries and the occasional unexpected tangent.
Paul is a member of New Music Brighton, an association of composers who live or work in the Sussex area.
